What is a Chiropractic Adjustment?

Trauma (accidents or injuries) as well as Microtrauma (improper postures and stress) cause injury to ligaments, muscles/ tendons, joint capsules and other soft tissues resulting in damage to the Mechanoreceptors in these tissues.

Mechanoreceptors are part of the nervous system and are responsible for aiding in the coordination of movement and muscle function.

When mechanoreceptors are damaged, corrupted motor programs and malfunction of local musculature is the result.

Muscle timing may be delayed and the contraction may be weak or nonexistent. Muscles will tighten as a result. This will also causes the facilitation or recruitment of other muscles in order to compensate.

These muscle malfunctions will cause increased stress and inflammation on not only the originally injured area, but also other areas of the body.

This can explain why sometimes, an injury feels like its not getting any better or even getting worse over time.

The Chiropractic adjustment corrects these disrupted motor programs by improving the communication between the nervous system and the musculature by stimulating the mechanoreceptors. This stimulation reestablishes coordination of the muscles and restores proper function and mobility. This corrected function destresses the injured and inflamed tissues which allows the injury to finally heal.

What is the Impulse IQ Adjusting Instrument®?

Just as lasers have replaced scalpels in some surgeries, advanced technology has become available to Chiropractors to assist in delivering Chiropractic Adjustments. Dr. Daubenspeck and thousands of other doctors around the world now use the Impulse Adjusting Instrument® in the care of their patients. This patented and FDA registered device was specifically created to deliver gentle and precise Chiropractic Adjustments to the joints and muscles of the spine and extremities to relieve pain and restore function. The Impulse Adjusting Instrument® is controlled by micro-computer circuitry housed within the device that produces a controlled force that chiropractors can use to treat different areas of the body. Impulse adjusting is a new technique developed to provide controlled treatments to the specific areas you’re having trouble with.

Dr. Daubenspeck uses the Impulse IQ Adjusting Instrument® to provide this treatment rather than the traditional manual methods of the past.

Impulse adjustments are high-tech, so there is no popping or cracking with these adjustments, but rather very precise and targeted adjustments designed to specifically care for just the right areas.

Years of research have gone into the development of the Impulse Instruments to create gentle chiropractic adjustments that are safe and effective for patients of all ages.
